About the Opportunity

SGS is looking for a full-time, two-year contract Indigenous & Community Engagement Coordinator based in Lillooet, BC, with strong potential for extension aligned with ongoing capital project funding.

Reporting to the SGS Administrator, you will play a pivotal role in coordinating St’át’imc engagement across major infrastructure and capital projects within the territory, ensuring alignment with Nation priorities, governance agreements, and community expectations throughout all project phases.

In this position, you will be primarily responsible for coordinating early and ongoing project engagement with BC Hydro, coordinating internal and community input, and guiding leadership and communities through complex capital project discussions with clear recommendations and informed advice.

This role offers the opportunity to grow into deeper infrastructure and capital project engagement expertise over time within a trusted, Nation-led organization.

More specifically, your responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Acting as the primary point of contact for new and existing BC Hydro capital projects within St’át’imc territory
• Guiding engagement and governance processes in alignment with St’át’imc agreements, protocols, and values
• Coordinating engagement between external project proponents, SGS departments, technical working groups, forums, and the Communities
• Supporting and coordinating early-stage project discussions, assessing impacts, and developing recommendations for leadership and communities
• Preparing briefings, written updates, and materials for SGS leadership, boards, and advisory tables
• Facilitating community engagement activities, meetings, and information-sharing sessions related to capital projects
• Supporting internal approval processes and endorsements for project-related decisions and working groups
• Securing and tracking funding for technical working groups tied to capital projects

About You

To qualify, you will need a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Project Management, Information Technology, or a related field, along with 3–5 years coordinating multi-stakeholder projects, ideally in a project engagement, project management, or similar role. An equivalent combination of education and directly relevant experience may be considered.

We welcome candidates with transferable experience from infrastructure, utilities, energy, environmental consulting, government, Indigenous relations, or other capital project environments.

The following are required:

• A valid driver’s license, a clean driver’s abstract, and access to a reliable vehicle
• Ability and willingness to travel within the territory and to locations such as Vancouver, Victoria, or Kamloops
• Ability to undergo a criminal record check and vulnerable sector check

Additionally, the following skills and background will be highly valued:

• Experience leading or coordinating engagement on large infrastructure or capital projects
• Strong understanding of governance processes, agreements, and protocol-based engagement
• Proven ability to work directly with senior stakeholders and external partners such as utilities or government agencies, including navigating differing priorities and timelines
• Confidence preparing briefings, recommendations, and written updates for leadership and boards
• Experience facilitating community engagement, meetings, and information-sharing sessions
• Ability to manage competing priorities and timelines in a fast-paced, evolving environment
• Familiarity with project management tools, documentation, and reporting processes
• Experience participating in early-stage project discussions and contributing clear, well-informed recommendations to leadership and communities
• Project management certification or a relevant master’s degree (asset)
• Experience working with Indigenous communities (asset)
